Bryan Hornby
As most of you know Bryan was fatally injured in a RTA close to P.F. circuit in Lincolnshire and was buried last week. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Can I ask that you give some thought as to how the WLKC and / or the circuit can remember him? Please let any WLKC committee member or myself know what suggestions you have so that they can be considered.

RAF Enduro
During the evening of the Saturday prior to the August MSA meeting the RAF will be organising an Endurance Race which you can enter with a standard, unmodified Prokart. The evening will include Timed Qualifying prior to a 2.5 hour race. Full details are not yet available but, as a guide, I expect that there will be a minimum of 3 drivers per team, Dunlop SL1's slicks with a minimum weight specified. Talk to Ian Lawson if you are interested.

Fuel
Sadly it is generally accepted within karting circles that there is an issue with cheating in regards to fuel. The two stroke Cadet class would appear to be the biggest area of concern. Two points need to be understood namely:

i. those drivers using legal fuel are at a disadvantage which may result in them quitting the sport rather than join the cheats

ii. the additives used can be carcinogenic which is surely not what parents want their child to be inhaling. The MSA are talking about new procedures to be introduced in 2007. In the mean time KNE will make every effort to identify the cheats and, if the lab analysis results are conclusive, KNE will exclude the drivers concerned from the circuit.

At the last MSA meeting the committee asked Ian Lawson to take samples from karts chosen at random by the Competition Secretary. As a result four samples were identified as requiring an initial laboratory test which, in turn, identified one sample as being illegal. That sample is now away for a full laboratory breakdown of the fuel. The committee will discuss the result at the next committee meeting and take a decision as to their reaction to the result if it is proven to be modified fuel.

The testing equipment will be available for use at every Fun meeting and every MSA meeting.

World Formula
As a result of the Red Bull Track Attack event the World Formula engine has established itself as a reliable engine capable of providing a cost effective alternative to the Rotax domination of the sport. Clearly both Zoom and Zip are backing the class which will, I believe, grow both the Junior and Senior WF quickly. They are sponsoring a WF 'O' Plate at Rowrah in August over the Bank Holiday weekend. To enter you do need a current MSA National B licence. As far as the fun meeting is concerned, we will continue to run the World Formulas as one class until the end of the year.

Honda Prokarts
The same meeting at Rowrah will be hosting "O" Plates for both Honda Junior and Senior classes (and a Honda Heavies class!).

WLKC Points
Some confusion followed last months MSA meeting. Where a driver is excluded from the meeting the points are awarded based on the order that karts cross the line (and NOT the result once exclusions etc are taken into account). Drivers who are not members of WLKC are not included in the Championship points. Due to an exclusion in junior max during the last race, please note that the attached WLKC points may be changed for this class following the WLKC committee meeting next week.

No Championship exists this year for Biland or Comer. Given that KNE are Comer sealing agents it is likely that there will be a Comer class next year.

Owner Driver Practice at Warden Law
There are drivers who use the circuit who feel that KNE do not give enough track time to them. I have attached a sheet that explains our position and hopefully puts to bed the idea that we do not support owner drivers. Practice is available every day during the week from 9am plus certain times on weekends. As those who do attend during the week will confirm we do make sure that owner drivers get as much track time as possible. May I suggest that you ring first if you want to practice during the evenings to find out how much track time will be available.

Admin position
As a result of staff changes we are looking for some one full time to join us as a receptionist / administrator. Why not talk to Emma or Anna in the first instance to find out more about the job. As organised people are highly valued within the KNE business the salary paid will reflect that fact. We are delighted to have Rachel Elliot working with us part time but her studies restrict the time she can work with us.

The Kart Shop at Warden Law
We were disappointed that Mark Ricketts decided that the shop was not for him and resigned. As a result we have reshuffled staff to cover the shop while we adjust. May I apologise that we are a little stretched as regards the shop at the moment. As a general rule the shop is open from 10am until 6.30pm. Anna remains as the administrator for the shop so please talk to Anna if you have any queries.
