WLKC Phone numbers
It has been pointed out to us that the number on the membership
card is incorrect. If you wish to put in an entry or speak
to Anne Laws her contact number is 0191 273 0830. If you inquiry
relates to practicing, reserved parking or membership then
please contact Anna Lightfoot on the usual circuit number
0191 521 4050.
Driving Standards
I am told by Anne Laws that driving standards at the MSA meeting
were below the standard we expect. All parents want the driver
to be safe at all times and they expect the officials to enforce
the rules. Please make sure that your driver does understand
what "no contact" driving is all about and the need
for sometimes accepting, for example, third place instead
of second but still finishing the race. To collide as a result
of an over ambitious overtaking manoeuvre resulting in a DNF,
points on your licence or a trip to hospital is madness!
Owner Driver Testing
Practicing is normally available every day except Saturdays
between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm. We do email out our diary
showing days when the circuit is fully booked by an exclusive
event and some dates are shown at the end of this newsletter.
How ever we would advise that you still ring up to check before
you travel to make sure that you can get onto the circuit.
Please ring between 9 am and 6 pm to make sure that you speak
to Emma or Anna (who are the organised ones in our business!)
While the circuit staff will answer the phone outside of these
times they do not have the detailed knowledge that you want.
Club Saturday Practice
On Saturday 22nd April (before the MSA meeting) KNE reserved
the circuit for owner drivers. Having looked at the names
of the drivers signed on less than 10 were WLKC members. As
many of you will know we normally have between 150 - 180 hire
kart customers on a typical Saturday. If local demand for
Saturday practice is so poor then we will review the arrangement
at the WLKC committee meeting. Because of Super One we will
not make any changes to the arrangement for the May Club meeting
as we anticipate a large entry. How ever the practice days
are open to any owner driver so please do not be put off.
The Friday practice before Super One is open to any Rotax
owner driver as KNE are running it. The Saturday practice
is under MSA regulations and is for Super One drivers only.
"The Kart Shop at Warden Law"
I make no apology for including an "offer" sheet
with this newsletter as it highlights reduced price products
that may be of interest to you. For those of you who have
visited the shop since we took over you will now be aware
of the wide range of products and the competitive pricing
that we have introduced. Our aim is to keep entry level karting
as cheap as possible thus attracting and keeping more.
Super One is Coming
Two MSA meetings in May means that the circuit and paddock
are going to be busy. If you wish to reserve paddock space
please contact Anna or Ian Lawson on the usual circuit number.
Costs for the weekend are £40 per bay for electric hookups
and £25 for a non electric 8m x 6m bay.
Shop Opening Hours
The shop will be open 7 days a week. KNE staff will have access
to open the shop from 9 am until 5 pm. Mark Ricketts will
be available 5 days with Anna Lightfoot & Ian Lawson providing
cover on those days when Mark is off. Race weekends the shop
will be open from 8 am until 1 hour after racing ceases.
The shop will not provide goods without payment being made
immediately (just like Tesco, Sainsbury's or my local pub!).
Payment can only be in cash or by credit card as we will not
accept cheques. How ever for WLKC members who need to make
alternative arrangements these must be agreed by either Emma
Little or Ian Lawson. We will not supply parts etc to kids
who tell us that their parents will be in to pay later. We
do not want to appear unhelpful
.we want to keep
life simple!
Cadet Classes at the Fun Meetings
Just to clarify - we are continuing with the Honda Championship
(with a minimum weight of 100 kg) and a separate 2 stroke
combined Championship. Pull start WTP's and Comers are eligible
BUT not the electric start WTP. They can still turn up but
they will not be included in the Championship results. Both
WTP and Comer will run at a minimum of 100 kg as the WTP's
did last year.
Signing In at Fun Meetings
If you want to practice prior to the start of the Fun meetings
then get here early and sign on before 9 am. Peter Knibb runs
the practice and tells me that he gets grief from late arrivals
who still want practice time.
