Congratulations to both
Tristram in winning both the ABKC 2005 Rotax Max Super
One title which he clinched at the last round without participating
in the final. Having already won the European Championship
he looks well prepared to add the World Championship to his
tally for the season when he competes in Langkawi in November.
On behalf of everyone involved in karting here at Warden Law
we wish him good luck and
success in his attempt to win the Treble!
Lynton Stutley is an old member of WLKC who has won the 2006
Avon Formula Ford Championship with 9 wins from 12 starts
and one second place. He has won a free test day in Formula
Renault as well as entry to the Formula Ford festival at Brands
Hatch.
WLKC Committee
The role of the WLKC committee and its members maybe needs
to be explained. The committee meets each month to discuss
and influences all matters relating to kart racing at Warden
Law except hire kart activity. Its main interest is in MSA
racing i.e. the Club racing on the 3rd Sunday and all MSA
Championship events. How ever the Fun meeting is always part
of the discussions as well as practicing
and testing at the circuit. So if you have a view on any matter
to do with karting at Warden Law talk to any of the committee
members. We have put their photos on the wall in the WLKC
Notice Board in KNE reception so that you can identify them.
The committee has concerns about karts being driven along
the pit lane tarmac putting the ankles of pedestrians at risk.
Please stop your kart on the circuit exit lane and then use
a kart trolley or push your kart at all times
when returning to your pit bay. Likewise no mechanic or parent
should go onto the circuit or exit lane at anytime unless
following agreement given at that time by the circuit manager
or
Clerk of the Course. If by doing so you are hit and injured
by another kart, you are not covered by any insurance
for your injuries. Please understand that if you are the driver
(or parent of the driver) of a kart that hits a pedestrian
you may well be sued through the courts for their injuries.
The AGM of the WLKC Ltd. will take place at approximately
1 pm on Sunday 11th December during the lunch break of the
Fun meeting. It is your chance to elect new faces onto the
committee and vote for various officers on the same committee
i.e. Chairman, Treasurer and Competition Secretary. A detailed
job specification for each position is on display on the WLKC
notice board. If you would like
to become involved with the committee please talk to an existing
committee member.
ARKS Test
We have approximately 250 karters who are paid up members
of WLKC. As you know this saves you £5 per visit when
you practice and it also gets the newsletter by email / snail
mail. How ever we only have a hard core of 50 60 members
who race under MSA regulations. If you want to race twice
a month at Warden Law all you need to do is take your ARKS
test to obtain an MSA licence. Bryan
Hornby will be assessing drivers at the next Fun meeting for
their ARKS tests so why not talk to him to find out what is
involved? Bryan is a member of the HRS staff and is usually
about mid week.
The Presentetion Night....... is to be held at the
Pullman Lodge, Sunderland on Saturday 7th January 2006. The
trophies from both the WLKC and Fun meetings will be presented
along with the three Rookie Challenge Karts. Last years event
was a sell out. It is a three course meal, presentation, disco
and auction. Tickets are £20 for adults and £10
for under 12 years old. Accommodation is also
available at a cost of £25 pp, two sharing a double
room. Application forms for tickets are available from the
KNE reception.
Saturday Practice
I may have confused some of you over Saturday practice next
year. The Saturdays before the WLKC meetings are not involved.
All other Saturdays (in 2005) have hire karts and owner drivers
on the circuit at the same time. National safety guidelines
have been changed advising circuits against this
way of operating so from the start of the New Year we will
not mix hire karts and owner drivers at any time. Other changes
may take place following the results of the survey.
Enclosed Questionnaire
KNE compile a customer feedback report every month for hire
kart customers as it helps us in identifying areas to improve
the hire kart business. We have never done the same for owner
drivers to obtain their views. Please take time to fill in
the questionnaire and return it to KNE.
WTP Engines in 2006
Having spoken to Mike Mills re WTP engines for next year my
understanding is as follows. Their series, the WTP Challenge
2006 will accept entries for both the new spec and the old
spec engines. They have reduced the minimum weight for the
old engines to 93 kg with the new engine kart at a minimum
of 103 kg. So even though the new spec engine is more powerful
the additional weight will bring performance in line with
the old spec engine. The Fun series will allow both engines
to take part
providing that the correct minimum weight is adhered to. We
will do some testing on the circuit over the next few weeks
to determine if we need to run two Championships within the
Fun Meeting or stick with the present arrangement. The WLKC
position will be finalised once John Mills Racing confirm
their arrangements for next year.
Caravans & Reserved Bays
We have been told by the council that our planning permission
does not allow caravans to remain on site on a permanent basis.
Please remove your caravans after the last MSA meeting on
the 20th November. We will be operating reserved bays again
next year with an improved system for keeping them clear of
vans etc when you arrive on site.
