Junior Race Nights Proving a Success

The weather was warm and sunny, and the track fast for our 3rd junior championship of the year; and with lap times clocked as quick as 57 seconds there was sure to be some great racing.

The heats started with the prediction of close, fast racing being the order of the day.  Ellis Dobbing, Rebecca Wheatley, Harry Firth and Jake Forster all achieved a heat win, with Ellis putting in the quickest lap time of 56.50s; the new lap record for a junior sodi kart!  Once the heats were completed and the points totalled, Jake begin the final on pole, with Ellis 2nd and Rebecca 3rd, followed by Harry, Chris Baron and Jack Hart.  The race got underway, with the first few laps showing no change in position, but as the tyres warmed up some great racing and overtaking was to be seen by all. 

Rebecca, from 3rd place, made an impressive move to pass two karts on the inside of the gasworks bend, taking her into 1st place.  Jake, who started from pole, hit a kerb a bit too hard resulting in a puncture to his rear right tyre, slowing his pace and quickly causing him to fall to the back of the pack.
	The chequered flag fell with Rebecca winning the junior race, closely followed by the remaining drivers.  Between the whole pack there was just 3 seconds between them as they crossed the line. A great day's racing had by all !
